Long Range Planning Informational Page
Please keep in mind that none of these actions will be taken unless the recommendation is approved by the session, and even if approved, the congregation will continue to be informed of the plan of action moving forward.
We are striving to be transparent and informative every step of the way.
Please continue to read the Weekly for the most up to date information, and feel free to continue to submit questions to Helen Harrison for consideration by the LRPT.
Q: What, exactly, will the Session be voting on in February?
A: The Session will be voting on the LRPT's recommendation that the Session approve the vision to address classroom, youth, office and worship space concerns with the plan for a phased building project on our current property. The LRPT also recommends the 1st phase be for classroom and office space, and the 2nd and 3rd phases, along with the renovation of current structures, be decided upon by the Session.
Q: What is Trinity's policy for borrowing money?
A: In buying, selling, and mortgaging real property, the officers of the corporation shall act solely under the authority of the congregation, granted in a duly constituted meeting of the corporation (excerpt from our Book of Church Order 25-7).
Q: Is there a time-line, and if so, what is it?
A: The LRPT will recommend that the project progress in a timely manner. The Session does plan to discuss the time-line moving forward if the recommendation is approved.
Q: If the recommendation is approved, what happens next?
A: Most likely, the next step in the process will be to continue the LRPT and populate needed future teams, potentially including:
All of these would be subsets of the LRPT and include a recommended minimum one deacon per sub-team. They would also be able to add members and new sub-teams as deemed necessary.
